Sex offender pulls pistol in hospital

PUEBLO OF ACOMA — A man wanted in Texas as a sex offense absconder was arrested and charged with five felonies and two misdemeanors following an incident at Sky City Hotel Aug. 13.

James Thomas Hoffman, 51, of Scotland, Texas, was booked into the Cibola County Detention Center on three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon; possession of a firearm by a felon, both fourth-degree felonies; aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, a third-degree felony; unlawful carrying of a deadly weapon, a petty misdemeanor, and possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor.
