Navajo soldier killed by IED in Afghanistan

WINDOW ROCK — The Navajo Nation has lost one of its own in Operation Enduring Freedom. U.S. Army Spc. Troy Orion Tom, 21, was killed in action on Monday by an improvised explosive device in Kandahar Province, according to the Navajo Nation President’s Office.

The funeral is scheduled at the Farmington Civic Center at 10 a.m. Wednesday.
