WINDOW ROCK — Food vendors were lining the streets. Carnival rides were being assembled. Traffic began increasing. The signs that the Navajo Nation Fair is coming were obvious Wednesday morning in Window Rock.

Amid all the signs was the official opening ceremony for the fair, near the east entrance to the fairgrounds. A ribbon-cutting and release of balloons marked the beginning of the 63rd annual celebration.
