Nora Bradley
FLAGSTAFF — Funeral services for Nora Jean Curley Bradley, 70, will be 2 p.m., Friday, Sept. 18, at Norvel Owens Mortuary Chapel, 914 E. Route 66, Flagstaff. Burial will be in Flagstaff Citizens Cemetery.
Bradley died Sept. 14, 2009, in Scottsdale. She was born Dec. 15, 1938, in Leupp, into the Black Streaked Wood People Clan for the Salt People Clan.
She attended Red Lake School and Intermountain School in Brigham City, Utah. While working in Los Angeles, California, she met Leonard Lee Bradley and they were married in 1960. Nora and Leonard moved to Mexican Hat, Utah in 1961 and eventually settled in Dennehotso, Arizona in 1963.
In 1964, Nora began a career that would span 28 years working for the Dennehotso Boarding School as an educational assistant. She brought tremendous talent, hard work, energy, creativity, and excellence to her job as she touched the lives of many children in the Dennehotso community.
After retiring from Dennehotso in 1992, she moved to Scottsdale, Arizona to be near her four children and grandchildren. She loved spending time with her family, traveling to Leupp, Kayenta, California and Montana, visiting friends and relatives, attending pow-wows, and beadworking. She was an avid Phoenix Suns and Arizona Cardinals fan and loved watching the games with her family.
Survivors include her son, Darryl Bradley; daughters, Tammy Whitaker, Vanessa Bradley, Lenora Bradley; sisters, Betty Crosby, Nellie Yazzie, Emma Jean Willie; eight grandchildren.
Bradley was preceded in death by her husbands Leonard Lee Bradley; brotherss Howard Kelly, Hoover Schultz, Merton Kelly; sisters, Clinette Schultz, Dorothy Monroe.
The family will receive relatives and friends at 4 p.m., today, Sept. 18, at American Legion Post #3, 204 W. Birch Ave., Flagstaff.
Galina Largo
CHINLE — Funeral services for Galina Ann Largo, 54, will be 10 a.m., Monday, Sept. 21, at Our Lady of Fatima Parish, Chinle. The Rev. Blane Grein, OFM, will officiate. Burial will be in Chinle Community Cemetery. Visitation will be 9 a.m., one hour prior to service.
Largo died Sept. 16, 2009, in Albuquerque. She was born Dec. 20, 1954, in Ganado, into the Towering House People Clan for the Bitterwater People Clan.
Largo had her AA Degree in Applied Science, certification in early childhood development, and was working on her Bachelor degree in early childhood development with Northland Pioneer College, Holbrook, acquiring credits toward Bachelor degree with NAU of Flagstaff in early childhood development. She earned her certificate with NCC-Dine College in early childhood development. She was employed with Navajo Nation Headstart for 33 years, when it started as ONEO.
Survivors include her husband, Emerson Jim Largo Sr.; sons, Emerson Jim Largo Jr., Frank Jim Largo II, Talbert “Tremont” Benally, Larren Rae Largo; daughters, Glenna Ann Bia, Melina Ann Begay, Alvera Begay; mother, Lena Ann Benally; brothers, Ervin G. Benally, Alvin G. Benally, Calvin A. Benally; sisters, JoAnn Delgarito, Alberta Benally, Barbara Benally; 21 grandchildren.
Largo was preceded in death by her father, Glenn L. Benally; sisters, Marlena Jean Begay, Arlene R. Redhouse, Kathealena Benally; one grandson.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Galina Largo residence, 1/4 miles NW of Chinle Hospital, blue double wide trailer.
Tse Bonito Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Martha Largo
CROWNPOINT — Services are pending for Martha Freeland Largo, 78.
Largo died Sept. 17, 2009, in Crownpoint. She was born March 19, 1931, in Rehoboth.
A family gathering will be 6 p.m., tonight, Sept. 18, at Phyllis Thomas residence, Sunnyside House #39.
Cope Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
