GALLUP — A broken water main reduced water pressure at some north side homes Thursday, and left some of the same homes with discolored, or “brownish looking” water, city officials said.

Water department field personnel said a break in a 10-inch downtown main line at Maxwell Avenue and Second Street ruptured at some point during the early morning hours, prompting residents in the area to flood the department with telephone calls.
