Relief Drive

ST. MICHAELS — There will be an emergency relief drive on Navajoland for the people of the Philippine Islands and surrounding areas that were recently hit hard by back-to-back typhoons. In the process of collecting relief goods and asking for donated boxes of canned goods, rice, noodles, cereal, crackers, biscuits, snacks, sugar, salt, used clothing, shoes, blankets, towels, bottled water, baby formular, toiletries like shampoo, bath soap, toothpaste-toothbrush and other items that will be of real use to those who have lost just about everything. Seeking Applicants

GALLUP — Gallup Soroptimists are seeking applicants for it’s Violet Richardson Award. If you are a young woman between the ages of 14-17 who volunteers in your community or school to make their community and world a better place. This award recognizes young women who make the community and world a better place by their volunteer efforts such as: fighting drugs, crime and violence; cleaning up the environment and working to end discrimination and poverty. Winners are eligible to receive cash awards for themselves and their charitable organization. The application period is Sept. 15 to Dec. 1.
