GALLUP — Area veterans packed the room at Don Diego’s restaurant Friday morning to discuss area veteran issues and to award medals to the family of Marine Charles Iskara.
Twelve members of the Iskara family were present as the Veterans Helping Veterans organization gave the three medals to Iskara’s grandson, Ian Maestas.
The Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal for Vietnam, the National Defense Medal and the Good Conduct Medal were given to the 5-year-old, who blushed and said thank you.
