Garland Lewis
RAMAH — Services for Garland Gene Lewis, 59, will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 21, at Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Church, Ramah.
Lewis died Oct. 17, 2009. He was born July 11, 1950.
Lewis graduated from Ramah High School. After working several jobs throughout the state he landed at Century-Tel in Zuni, where he spent the following 30 plus years and had recently retired from. Lewis enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and “puttering around at the barn”.
Survivors include his wife, Dee Ann Lewis of Ramah; sons, Dawane Lee Lewis of Belen, Boyd Curtis Lewis of Ramah, G. Preston Lewis of Salt Lake City, Utah, Ned Parley of Ramah; daughters, Melinda Danyelle Herron of Salt Lake City, Utah, Megan Lurlene Brown of Salt Lake City, Utah; parents, Lurlene and Garland Parley Lewis of Ramah; eight grandchildren.
Eldon McCabe
WINDOW ROCK — Memorial services for Eldon Maurice McCabe, 62, will be 10 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 20, at Rehoboth Christian Reformed Church. Burial will be in Rehoboth.
McCabe died Oct. 15, 2009, in Window Rock. He was born Sept. 16, 1947, in Crownpoint, into the Red Running Into the Water People Clan for the Salt People Clan.
McCabe attended Window Rock High School, Fort Lewis College and University of New Mexico College of Law.
Survivors include his son, Sean Maurice McCabe; daughter, Taunya Christine McCabe Frank; brother, Henry Norman McCabe; sister, Carol Jean DaHozy; one grandchild.
McCabe was preceded in death by his grandmother, Christine Whiddle; parents, Maurice McCabe, Katherine McCabe.
Pallbearers will be Wilson DaHozy, William McCabe, Robert Allen, Roger DaHozy, Jason DaHozy, Lucas Frank.
In lieu of flower, donations may be made to Rollie Mortuary.
Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Dannie Yazzie
WINSLOW — Funeral services for Dannie H. Yazzie, 85, were 10 a.m., today, Oct. 19, at Dine Hogan Baptist Church, Spider Rock. Burial was in family plot, Spider Rock. Visitation was 9 a.m., at Dine Hogan Church, Spider Rock.
Yazzie died Oct. 13, 2009, in Winslow. He was born Jan. 30, 1924, in Spider Rock, into the Red Running into the Water People Clan for the Water Edge People Clan.
Yazzie was a World War II veteran, U.S. Air Force, Reconaissance squadrom offensive Japan. He received the Western Pacific medal: Good Conduct Medal, American Compaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal. He worked in Bellomont, Flagstaff, various jobs in California for 14 years. He was a good family man, hard worker and man of all trade.
Survivors include his sons, Jamie Alfred, Danny Yazzie; daughter, Kathy Alfred; brother, Herbert Yazzie; sister, Mary Albert; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild.
Pallbearers were Jamie Alfred, Andrew Brown, Joeldon Yazzie, Johnson Brown, Johnson Albert, John Hunter.
The family received relatives and friends at Dine Hogan Baptist Church, following services.
Tse Bonito Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
