Deaths

James Antonio

PINEDALE — Funeral services for James Antonio, 78, will be 10 a.m., Nov. 20, at Cope Memorial Chapel. Jay Arviso will officiate. Burial will be in family plot, Pinedale. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., at Cope Memorial Chapel.

Antonio died Nov. 13, 2009, in Pinedale. He was born July 24, 1933, in Pinedale, into the Mountain Cove People Clan.

Antonio worked at Southwest Indian Foundation, Union Pacific Santa Fe Railroad for 31 years and retired in 2001. He also worked part-time for the postal service. His hobbies included traveling, rodeos, playing pool and going to the casino. He was a well respected man.

Survivors include his wife, Elsie I. Antonio of Churchrock; sons, Gilbert Antonio of Snowflake, Ariz., Ronnie G. Antonio of Pinedale; daughters, Dorothy A. Williams of Pinedale, Louise A. Yazzie of Bread Springs, Cleva A. Willie of Twin Lakes; brother, Henry G. Antonio of Pinedale; sisters, Jennie P. Begay, Jessie M. Largo, both of Pinedale; 24 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren.

Antonio was preceded in death by his parents, Jimmie and Mary Antonio; brother, Leonard Antonio; sisters, Pauline Lee, Grace Antonio, Elsie Barney.

Pallbearers will be Ronald Antonio, Johnny Antonio, Fernando Peters, Justin Gray, Hilbert Antonio, Wilson H. Dawes.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Pinedale Chapter House, following services.

Cope Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Frank DeLaTorre

GALLUP — Funeral Mass for Frank L. DeLaTorre, 87, will be 11:30 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 21, at St. John Vianney Catholic Church. The Very Rev. James E. Walker will officiate. A rosary will be recited 11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 21, at St. John Vianney Church.

DeLaTorre died Nov. 12, 2009, in Albuquerque. He was born April 2, 1922, in Gallup.

DeLaTorre graduated from Gallup High School in 1942 and served 4 years in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He was employed with Fort Wingate Army Depot, RMCH, and retired from P&M Coal Co. in 1986. He also worked the election polls at Indian Hills Elementary for many years. DeLaTorre and his wife were active square dancers in the 1970s and 1980s, with the Red Rock Ramblers and the Piñon Promenaders. He enjoyed staying busy with projects around the house and visiting with family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Lou Chavez DeLaTorre of Gallup; son, Vidal DeLaTorre of Gallup; daughter, Cynthia Merriman of Rio Rancho; sister, Gregoria Esparza of Peoria, Ariz.; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.

DeLaTorre was preceded in death by his parents, Luis and Lupe DeLaTorre; brothers, Ramon DeLaTorre, Dionicio DeLaTorre; sisters, Mercedes Sedillo, Mary Silva.

Pallbearers will be Vincent DeLaTorre, Frank Ranjel.

The family will receive relatives and friends at St. John Vianney Fellowship Hall, following services.

Diana Esparza

ALBUQUERQUE — Services for Diana L. Esparza, 56, will be 11:30 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 21, at Church of the Ascension, 2150 Raymac SW. Father Edmund Savilla will officiate.

Visitation will be 10:30-11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 21, at Church of the Ascension. A rosary will be recited 11 a.m., Nov. 21, at Church of the Ascension. A committal service will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 24, at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Deacon Juan Martinez will officiate.
Esparza died Nov. 18, 2009.

Esparza was a member of the Catholic Church and of the Old Town Optimist Club. She assisted with many local political campaigns. She was a dedicated employee of Bernalillo County in several capacities for 25 years.

Survivors include her husband, Ernest Esparza; children, Shawndai Esparza, J.R. LaBerge-Esparza; mother, Flora Mae Gonzales; sisters, Antoinette Maes-Gonzales, Beverly Gonzales; brother, Raymond Gonzales; two grandchildren.

Esparza was preceded in death by her father, Buddy Gonzales.

Raymond Tso Sr.

CROWNPOINT — Services for Raymond Tso Sr., 69, will be 10 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 21, at Christian Reform Church, Shiprock.

Tso died Nov. 16, 2009, in Crownpoint. He was born April 6, 1940.

Tso worked for the Navajo Nation over the years. He was a former Police Office and was a former Chief Prosecutor.

Cope Memorial Chapel, Farmington, is in charge of arrangements.

Cassandra Yazzie-Hotchkiss

DURANGO, Colo. — Services for Cassandra Yazzie-Hotchkiss, 29, will be 10 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 21, at Rollie Mortuary, Gallup. The Rev. Curt Alderton will officiate. Burial will be in family plot, Cousins.

Yazzie-Hotchkiss died Nov. 16, 2009, in Durango, Colo. She was born Sept. 7, 1979, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, into the Edge Water People Clan for the Under Folded Arms People Clan.

Yazzie-Hotchkiss attended Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colo. and received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. Her hobby was film editing. She was a volunteer for Our Sister’s Keeper.

Survivors include her husband, Jason Hotchkiss; sons, David Brooks, Dante Hawkins; daughter, Amada Hotchkiss; mother, Rita Davis; brother, Bennie Yazzie Jr.; sisters, Purcell Lee, Vanessa Willie; grandparents, Bessie Lee, Joe Davis.

Hotchkiss was preceded in death by her father, Bennie Yazzie Sr.; brother, Cyrus B. Yazzie.

Pallbearers will be Bennie Yazzie Jr., Coben Willie, Anthony Demond, Chris Jocks, Asa Washines, Joseph Davis.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Red Rock Chapter, following services.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
