WINDOW ROCK — As a new year approaches, some of the Navajo people believe “out with the old, in with the new” might be a good concept to apply to the Navajo Nation government.

On Wednesday, the Intergovernmental Relations Committee approved a memorandum of understanding which reallocated $734,227 from the Motor Vehicle Authority. Of that amount, $289,912 will go to the Navajo Election Administration for a special election on the Council reduction and a measure to give the president line-item veto authority. The remaining $444,315.71 will go to the Office of the Speaker to be used as discretionary money.
