Line-item veto power on the table Copyright © 2009 WINDOW ROCK — Having decision-making power in the budget process is an important part of political power. Currently the Navajo Nation president does not have authority to strike out individual line items in the tribal budget, known as a line item veto, but a special election on Tuesday may change that. Navajo voters will go to the polls on two questions Tuesday, and while there has been much discussion on the reduction of the Navajo Nation Council, there has not been as much on the line item veto.
