WINDOW ROCK — There will be no layoffs of Navajo Nation employees or workers hired through the Department of Youth as a result of departments and chapters having a zero budget balance.

The Navajo Nation is changing the way it has done business in the past, according to Budget and Finance Committee Chairman LoRenzo Bates, who made the announcement Monday following an executive session with legal counsels and representatives of the government’s branches.
